Tips and Tricks, how to pass the time?

I`ve heard that oilfield firefighting can often be sitting in a truck for 12 hours a day waiting for something to happen. First off, is this correct? I just have a question about the CPAT requirements. I completed a 'Firefighter Physical Fitness Evaluation' in July at the University of Alberta. This test is significantly tougher than the CPAT and I have been told that this test counts as a CPAT substitute. Is this correct?
