Smoking!

Postby FLASHOVER05 » Thu Jul 14, 2005 4:36 am

Just wondering how many smokers are there in the Fire house anymore? I personally know a couple of friends that are smokers, and what are the thoughts of that particular department about Smoking Cessation... Do they help there own kick the Habit?
How the hell did I end up here?????

4 out of 12 on my crew smoke. In Toronto we get "Maximum lifetime of $ 300.00 per person for smoking cessation medication". Less and less people are smoking and more and more are trying to stop.

Smoker, here - I'm one of 5 smokers (out of a crew of 19) at our hall.

Damned hard to quit and I've tried a bunch of methods.

I can count at least 12 smokers in my dept...and yes I am one of them. But I am trying to quit because I am applying at HRM and am not allowed to be a smoker... So its good motivation for me. Doing good...I'm down to one or sometimes 2 a day...**pat myself on the back**

I went from none in my station to 3 (out of 6)
24/7, as long as the city can afford the O/T

Good Job Mini, I remember doing the same and then I didn't even make down to Halifax to apply that was two years ago now... I'm just trying to stop having the odd one here and there. But when I stopped having a pack a day I started to feel a whole lot better.

YAY bcfire, glad to hear it!! I am an ex-smoker. 5.5 years now. My little one looked up at me one day before she turned 6 and said, "Mom, won't smoking make you die?" Ummm, yeah, I put that cigarette out and have only had one look back....got a little drunk, smoked half a pack of cigarettes... ewwww... I don't remember ever being that sick... ick!
I don't mind the smell of it now and then (outside only), but I will always remember being sick and Little Wannabe's very poignant question!!

Sue :)
