This RFP is issued by BC Hydro to obtain Proposals from parties wishing to provide the
following Work to BC Hydro:
BC Hydro is seeking to engage multiple contract fire fighters to support construction
underway at Mica Generating Station (MCA), located 135 km north of Revelstoke, British
Contract fire fighters will be required to meet the requirements listed in this RFP. These
individuals will work under Contract for up to one year, with an option to renew for up to
three additional years at one year terms, for a total of four years at the sole discretion
of BC Hydro. These contracts will include the delivery of emergency responder duties such
as; fire fighting, rescue, emergency medical and related services at BC Hydro Mica
Generating Station and townsite.
Proponents must be ProBoard and/or IFSAC certified to the NFPA 1001, Fire Fighter Level 2
with a minimum of four years experience in a composite Fire Department or ProBoard and/or
IFSAC certified to the NFPA 1081, Industrial Fire Fighting Level 3 with a minimum of 5
years experience on an Industrial Emergency Response Team.
Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to, fire preplanning, fire
prevention, training, education and equipment maintenance. It is anticipated that Team
Members may be required to perform other duties on the construction site, and as such
trades experience is an asset. Potential Proponents wishing to respond to this RFP shall
follow Instructions and Terms for Submission of Proposals listed in the RFP. No late
submissions will be accepted.
