Is anyone in the process of applying? Also, has anyone had a PLAR done for the Firefighter trade? Im just wondering how long it took.

Thanks.

The PLAR process shouldn't take too long, but it all depends on where you did your schooling and if the school is on the list of approved educational facilities.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask or PM me. I have been through the process and can let you know what to expect.

PLAR is done at the academy usually when a candidate is in the CFFCA's holding platoon. If your credentials match up with approved list of programs at the school then you'll be course loaded onto a "semi skilled" QL3 apprentice firefighter course and may also be granted advanced pay scale. eg; Avr 3 instead of Avr 1.

If there are not enough candidates for a "semi-skilled" QL3 you'll end up on a normal apprentice course.

good luck
