That's too bad they said no, from what I understand Volunteer and Composite FD's have trouble finding people who can actually respond during the work week since people commute so far now.

I wouldn't go short, the profession is set for a big shift in educational requirement with the document that will be replacing the NOCP. 2025, PAC is proposing that entry to practice for Paramedicine will be a Baccalaureate degree similar to the transition that has occurred in Australia and as RN's ...

Keep in mind if you're intending to move provinces that gaining reciprocity for PCP may not be an issue, but if you take your PCP diploma in a province with a shorter curriculum and then attempt your ACP in a province that would expect you to have front loaded the A&P, pharmacology, patho, etc. you ...

This is a terrible idea. At an EMR level you don't even know enough to know much you don't know. If the vast majority of births, nothing goes wrong and no intervention is needed. In those cases anyone can do the job of catching the baby. But even being able to assess and know when things aren't goin...

Save the money. You're a student, you'll ding and scrape the heck out of the toes in school between scenarios and kicking the backstop of the stairs as you get used to the stair chair. $100 is better used on gas going to clinical and precepting or employment testing. I spent way too much on my first...

Composite is equivalent as long as they're CSA approved which may only be an issue if you order online from the states. Composite is generally lighter and doesn't get as cold in the winter. I've tried a few different boots. Some pricey some less. Converse's weren't great and fell apart quickly. My o...

I wouldn't worry too much about an MPDS course since most of the Ontario Central Ambulance Communications Centres (CACC) run their own made in Ontario and not as good system, DPCI II. There generally isn't a specific training requirement for CACC employment though there are some college courses in 9...

I can't speak to resumes since every service and HR department will set their own criteria and that may include preference for certain school. It's very easy and popular to bash the private programs and they do have their short comings but a good student should be able to excel nonetheless. Having s...

It's popular for people to praise/bash one school or another, but generally speaking people have limited exposure to the different programs other than the one they attended. They tend to judge the programs based on the students they've precepted or colleagues who've gone there or other word of mouth...
