Re: Shaw Spotlight on Vancouver volunteer firefighter

Awesome story about Ted Blight and the Sproat Lake Volunteer Fire Department. While I have never met Ted, I do know a few of the Sproat Lake members, and they are all great guys & gals. :)

Re: Anyone here collect Toronto Fire Station Patches?

Not sure if her still lurks on here, but Billy Blazes is a TFD member who collects patches, and has a number of them to trade. If you can find his contact info on here, send him a PM.

KS Sirens

I was up in Kelowna last month at the BCFTOA conference. I was going to make a trip to KS Sirens but was told they are no longer in business.

Our department gets its badges from Fishers - good product and good service.

Use of "Copy" in Radio Transmissions

Hi Raker, In my opinion, your interpretation and use of the word "copy" is correct . We use it all the time in my department. It tells the sender that we have received and understand their message. Dispatch uses "roger" all the time. Being a smart ass one night, when the dispatcher said "roger" I re...

Hey Pulse, We do not have an actual SOG for duty crews during social events. What we do at the Parksville Fire Department is put out a "sign up" sheet for a duty crew for all of our social events. We try to have enough staffing for one apparatus - a six person crew - which includes an Officer and a ...

Warm Water Diving

Just reviving this thread. The constant rain on the "wet coast" has me longing for some warm water diving. ;) I have been to Scuba Club Cozumel five times now, including the last three years in a row. The great diving, friendly staff, and excellent accomodations keeps me going back. Unfortunately do...

Dynamic Rescue Systems for Training and Ropes

We used Dynamic Rescue Systems to train a bunch of our members in low slope, confined space, and high angle last year. Very good training and very knowledgeable instructors. We just replaced all of our rope, webbing, and cordage, and Dynamic was the supplier. I believe all of our ropes are now New E...
