Re: Volunteer Firefighting Experience - Did it help you get hired full-time?

It definately doesnt hurt at all. Most depts expect that if a vollie, that you have put your practical knowledge from a school and now apply it to real life scenarios. Than again, one question that pops up alot lately in interviews is " what are you involved in your community, besides being a volunt...

Re: On the job live fire training

Great question ..

Right now, once a year with the dept seems right.

Re: Experienced Firefighters

Barrie was the only dept to my knowledge that did this. Only reason is that they didnt have a training division, and alot of full timer's applied with experience.

To todays standards, i dont know of any dept that does it in Ontario.

Re: Brampton 2020

Recruitment suspended currently with the possibility of running a late one, all depending on the outbreak.
Next year will be big classes if everything does come off the table for this year.

Re: Toronto 2019

Sigh... Didn't want this to be a pissing match... but I've been hired for quite a few years now already, but thanks bud. I'd love to have you on my crew, we could debate all day long about what you think you do or do not do at a covid call. I can personally guarantee I have attended more patients su...

Re: Toronto 2019

Hearing that most cities are putting any recruitments on hold. More than likely that means this year no one will get hired due to whats going on. As for someone saying they dont want to be involved in the current crisis, should look elsewhere for a job. Why should I look for a different job because...

Re: Brampton 2020

Currrent recruitment is on hold .. more than likely now till end of year or early next year. With current issues, itll be a wait and see game now. Do you have any idea if ofai plans to extend certificates to those who recently renewed or will they be void ? reach out to OFAI and ask them directly. ...

OFAI is good until September. I’m really hoping all of this ends soon and I’m able to get an application in with Toronto.
Hope you are ready to rebook ..

They are anticipating a 6 month stint of self isolation, and depending on our summer this virus to survive until early 2021.
