List of volunteer departments near the GTA?

Postby TF1991 » Fri Jun 10, 2016 6:25 pm

Hey all,

I currently live and work in the GTA and have had no success getting on with a department. I am willing to move to the surrounding areas if I can land a volunteer position and do that while I continue to work downtown. I'm looking at Stouffville, East Gwillimbury, and King City so far. Are there any other volley departments in the surrounding areas?

Uxbridge and Brock Twsp to the NE, clarington to the E. Little farther W you have Milton. Obviously it all depends on where you want to live and how far you want to travel.

You also have to consider when they may be hiring again and any residency restrictions (can't apply unless you're a resident of the municipality).

I know King is a super busy, all volley (no full-time firefighters) dept that gives an awesome opportunity to gain experience.

Good luck wherever you go!

Id say try for king! I know a guy who used to be on king, and loved it. He ran tons of calls, and lots of good ones!

Might as well ask this here but do volunteer departments usually provide their FFs with advanced medical training like EMR? Or something more than the basic first aid and cpr level c?
