Taco Pie

Postby Hosehog176 » Fri May 13, 2005 10:01 am

Taco Pie

Vegetable Spray
2# lean ground beef
1 pkg 25% less salt taco seasoning
5 red chili flavour tortilla wraps
2 c mozzarella cheese
1- 4.5 ounce can green chilies
2 medium tomatoes - diced
4 green onions - chopped
1 ½ c medium salsa

Spray a 10-11 inch springform pan with vegetable spray and set aside. Cook the ground beef and taco seasoning as directed on the back of the seasoning package. Let mixture cook until almost completely dry. Cover the bottom of the springform pan with a little of the salsa then top with a tortilla. Cover each tortilla with 1/4 of the following ingredients: beef mixture, tomatoes, cheese, chilies, onions and salsa. Layer like a lasagna and end with a tortilla on the top. Cover the top with the rest of the cheese, tomatoes and green onions. Cook at 350* for 60-70 minutes. Cut in wedges and serve.

It is looking really good. All ingredients and the method is also very good. I will try this taco pie today. I am sure that its taste will be good.

Hi buddies I want to make a taco pie first time by myself. I have taco shells that I would like to turn into a crust. I do NOT want to just break the shells up, I would like to make them into a dough or something so that I will have an actual crust. Thanks for any suggestion.

I've made something similar, Mexican lasagna, added black beans, corn, Serrano peppers and used ground turkey over beef (they won't notice). The packaged taco seasoning is good but has so much crap in it. Chilli powder, cayenne, garlic powder, salt, pepper does the trick. Add some fresh guacamole on the side with some cilantro now we're talking. And now I'm hungry.......
