Remember, Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Remember what the rules of life really are:
You only need two tools - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Dell is not a bad computer, the only problem is that they are very proprietary, if you need a fan or power supply etc you can not just go to the local computer store and get the generic reasonable one, you have to get a Dell Part at 2-3 times the cost. Maybe not as bad in a laptop, but I have had first hand experience with a Dell desktop unit, The CPU fan went, I had to order in a Dell fan which was going to take about a week, luckily I was able to get a used fan for a reasonable price. The connector on the Dell fan wiring was opposite every other fan I was able to find.

CFTO Toronto- a part of CTV just did a consumer report on laptops and their amount of repair time... Compaq and Sister company HP were ranked on the lower end of the scale, essentially they were in the shop more frequently....

Just a suggestion..... Try checking with a company that does testing such a Consumer Reports....
Hope that helps
How the hell did I end up here?????

I've done some investigating for members of our dept that wanted to buy laptops. The highest rated brand for the most part is Toshiba, I guess you just got a lemon.
24/7, as long as the city can afford the O/T

Just bought two Sony VIAO FS550s... love them... never had a problem. We did our homework after buying and having problems with Compaq & HP models... we settled for the Sony’s at a very reasonable price.

Shed some more light on your problems... and always buy the extended warranties on laptops.
