I want to preface this by saying I'm not a doctor nor am I an expert on interpreting standards. I think if anyone has an untreated condition they should seek help from an appropriate profession.
From what I can interpret from this section, it would be an issue at hire if there was a medical history of a psychiatric condition WITHOUT treatment. It would come down to the discretion of the doctor to determine if the condition is under control or resolved and that you can successfully perform your duties.
I think you should always get the appropriate care for your own health first before chasing after a job. You owe it to yourself to be the healthiest you! You owe it to the fire service to be the healthiest you!
