Called HR and the guy told me that EMR is now the standard.. Has anyone called today and spoke with HR? The guy I spoke with was actually very rude about it saying how there are no mistakes on the recruitment page and telling me to re-read it, as HE was the one who wrote it.
That's funny. If you look on the checklist it says standard first aid and HCP. So, he might want to redo the checklist.

Right off of their recruit page.

"CPR Certificate

There exist several levels of CPR training. In connection with the Operations Firefighter recruitment and selection process, Toronto Fire Services requires a Basic Life Support (BLS) for Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certificate, as defined by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. This course is offered by many First Aid and CPR training organizations, including many of the First Aid Trainers approved by WSIB.

Your EMR level CPR certificate must be valid and current at the time of application submission."

I am confused now....I have EMR CPR/AED-HCP from the Red Cross when I did my EMR course. Does Toronto want additional first aid on top of that?!

No you do not need any other additional first aid. EMR is now the minimum! Spoke to HR via email. Only question that was not answered was if it has to be still valid within 1 year and stay that way through the process?.

Hey folks, all I have is a cellphone to go through this with so I'll ask here. I have my EMR but she's nearly 2 years out of 3 in its period of validity. Surely they don't want such an expensive certificate to be updated annually like HCP?

Thanks guys, and good luck to everyone!
