Hey just have a question about payment for someone who was paying more attention than I was apparently. Do we have to wait to submit payment? Because I tried at the second last step of the application but nothing seemed to happen so I continued on and submitted my application. However, I did not submit any payment or payment information. So, was that supposed to be done already or is that a step that takes place after we have been contacted to write the test?
I see others have posted some good advice with regards to your question. I just had a thought- it may be your computer's pop-up blocker preventing the payment page from coming up. If you haven't yet been able to sort it out, I would try deactivating that, and give it a go.

That's strange I got an invite and it said only one day of test sept 15. I wonder if they assigned us at date and I don't seem to have to register ahead of time.

I got asked to write on September 17th and so did my friend.

It seems Ottawa is going to run testing over a few days.

Ottawa always does testing over 3 days, usually about 500 writing every day. They are using Gledhill-Shaw (OS and CPS). I find that the Canadian Firefighter Exam, Norman-Hall and Barron's are all pretty good for prep for these tests, especially the first two. In the Canadian FF Exam book there is a website that has OS and CPS practice tests, I found this pretty helpful too.

I wrote for Ottawa during the last recruitment. If you wrote for Windsor and will be writing for Hamilton they are the same format, just slightly different questions. There is an oral passage that is quite lengthy with a lot of details so practice your memorization. If you can get through the math in those prep books you'll be just fine for the test. Nothing is overly complicated, you just have to practice and become quick at working out the math. For the scale questions, be honest and be consistent as most of you know, answer at one end of the scale or the other...not in the middle.

Use the time this summer to prepare and you'll be ready come September. Good luck everyone.
