Toronto 2016

Postby Firefly09 » Fri Feb 12, 2016 8:18 pm

Figured I would start a new thread so people are aware of the new recruitment coming up.

You can find more information here:
It's important to note that EMR certification is now an employment requirement. Be sure to really look into the requirements found on the city's website.

I see EMR is required, but is AMFR an equal certificate?
Also a side note, Where do you even get EMR cert training?

I'd give them a call, but they seem incredible unhelpful. I feel as if they just did a google search and decided "that's the course were going to go with". EMR is supposed to be a governed licensing within some Canadian provinces, the Red cross simply puts on a course that mimics it. I really Don't see how they have the authority to monitor its certification.

AMFR is the equivalent to the FR for Red Cross. You need to do the upgrade course which is two weekends. The same as the AMFR or FR.

EMR Upgrade

Postby LMacCPR » Sun Feb 14, 2016 9:26 am

To accommodate the March 14 closing for TFS we have added one course in London.

Feb 29, Mar 1, 2. 8am-10pm each day. Come prepared because we have to move hard and fast for this timeline.

We are only taking 8 people. You MUST have a current within one year Red Cross First Responder or St John Medical First Responder. If you have anything else please have the syllabus for the course so we can see if it qualifies.

This does include HCP-CPR.

Contact Laura@LMac-CPR.ca, this is a Red Cross course.

For guys doing EMR.

Does Toronto recognize any EMR cert?

For example, Red Cross, St. John's, academy of emergency training

I think red cross would be the safe bet. I used to have the St john ambulance AMFR and don't think it will be accepted as equivalent. I think it would be equivalent to the red cross first responder certificate. I know most places are willing to run upgrade courses for AMFR (St John) and FR (red cross) to EMR.
