Note that they are asking for NFPA 472 for this recruitment. Was this offered by Ontario pre-service programs or would only those who attended teex have received these certs?
Should I... chose to disclose or not disclose that I am a white/ male / who's not native?

What do you guys think?

Whats everyones experience with these types of questions?
why not?

the recruit classes are approximately 74% white males, 17% female, and 9% "visible minority"

contrary to what people seem to think, being a visible minority doesn't seem to give a significant advantage (in my opinion)

I know that the previous preservice programs didn't include these but to my knowledge the new curriculum does.

Most Pre-Service programs offered NFPA 472 after 2008. The curriculum changed that year. I am sure all programs offer it as part of the regular curriculum now.

Hey guys I know this has been talked about in previous forums but what is the future of TFS looking like? Is there still a push from the city to take trucks off the road and close halls? I am currently a full time firefighter but contemplating whether I should apply for this recruitment as I am from Toronto. My fear is that I give up a guaranteed full time career in an ever expanding city to face the possibility of a recruit class being cancelled at some point or laid off due to budget cuts. If anyone has made a move from another dept to Toronto I would like to hear about your experiences, decision etc.

Good, do it up.

I've found for the most part (and keep in mind, I have gone to countless interview, and applied to more departments than I care to admit...) that people who complain about being turned down because they aren't a minority, or not getting an interview because of that purpose, shouldn't get hired in the first place. The world doesn't owe you anything, and for you to think that the ONLY reason that you're being turned away for is the fact that your skin pigment is one way or the other is very ignorant. Maybe they should re-evaluate themselves and then try again once they've grown up.

Good luck man! :)
