Ottawa 2016

Postby beef » Thu Mar 10, 2016 12:17 pm

Just curious if anyone out there knows if Ottawa is going to require OFAI testing as part of their recruitment process? I don't have it yet and don't know if I can get it done in time.

According to members of their dept, they are going to be sticking with their own recruit process - Not OFAI. You're good to go.

I wouldnt celebrate too soon. Its still like 200 to write the test and another 450 for a CPAT.... Probably the same CPAT that you do at york or brock for less than half the price. I mean Im still gonna do it just sayin it is probably the most expensive place to apply cause at least OFAI you can use it elsewhere

It is $450 for the CPAT, but you don't do the CPAT, until you have a job offer, so basically it cost you $450 to make 3 million, I wouldn't bitch about that to much!

Ya you are correct. Just reread the posting. Still really odd to have that as a last stage.

As Ottawa runs their own recruitment, it's saves everyone time and money running it last, obviously there has to be a last stage, but the CPAT is the most expensive part and it is done on a cost recovery basis,(overtime for proctors/arena rental etc.) so it would appear they are actually helping those out by not running 600 people through at $450 each when they will only hire ~100, seems to be a recruitment that is not looking for a cash grab!

Any idea on the size of recruitment?

FYI there was a report on diversity in OFS a few years ago that identified that the previous process would discourage applicants from 'less-financially-advantaged' households, the old system being test, CPAT, 2 interviews then job, so you laid out $670 before you even had an interview. One of the recommendations was to have the CPAT as the final stage as it costs the most, and when you are at that stage you all but have a job already anyways. If you look through these threads you'll see that 2010 was the last recruitment to have the CPAT before interviews, but I could be wrong.

I was part of 2012 recruitment and it was at the end, so it was definitely before then
