Hey Big Smoke,
Most of the people who went for Medical Examination before me and after me got the email for references but I still haven’t get any email. I’m kind of nervous about it, I disclose everything and I had to do a new xray at the same day, Any idea when I’m going to get the email? also have you ever seen that someone didn’t make the Medical Examination?

I know someone who got the reference email today. Some got it a week ago. Just think 96 or more people through the process. It takes a while to review everyone. Stay positive!

Anyone have any confirmed info on training timeline? I have heard 20 weeks total, with a morning shift and an evening shift. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, does anyone know if Toronto lets you stay on Volunteer departments?
You can stay now, no issues... Just like mentioned prior though, don't go advertising it. Tell your crew if you trust them, sure

This is very common. Dr. Foreman is very thorough and may take a while with the number of recruits in this class.

I wouldn't panic and I know that's easy to say, however, try to be patient. No news is good news.

Current plan is two groups running in various locations in the city, including off-site locations.
Each class has staggered start times as well.

As for volunteering, a bit of education for you: in 2008, the IAFF Constitution adopted changes to allow part-timing in small communities that would not otherwise be able to support full-time firefighting coverage.
The issue now is if a nearby full-time department is negatively impacted by a two hatter then that full-time department union will file the complaint with your union.
There have been very few complaints in the past few years but there have been some and Toronto Local 3888 does take steps.

Hope that helps.

Any insight on updating my application with Toronto, primarily the OFAI certs?
I applied with them being valid in January 2020. I have since been able to recertify and have them all current and valid. In the original job posting, it says "you may not be able to modify or reapply once your application has been submitted".

Is there harm in updating my candidate profile?
My application still says "screening 5/21/21"

I emailed that question as after i applied i also received vaild certification. They stated i could NOT update certification, resume or anything like that. The only thing would let me was my contact information.
