Alberta health services does the majority of the hiring so I'd keep checking up on their website.

There's always jobs being posted. You will find it easier to get full-time jobs in the big cities, such as Edmonton and Calgary.

As of April 1, 2013, the pay rates in Alberta are:

EMR = $19.41 to $22.69
EMTA = $26.12 to $32.98
Paramedic = $32.59 to $42.90

SAIT and NAIT are popular schools.

Try and stay away from the Private Schools, and here is why. When you go to a private school NONE of the courses you take are transferable. So if 5 years in you decide you want to go be a social worker, or a nurse etc. NONE of your Anatomy & Physiology is transferable into University level credits. UNLESS you go to NAIT or SAIT. So try and get in there if you can, for your EMR honestly it doesn't really matter. Id recommend St. Johns Ambulance.

Don't forget the other public institutions such as Keyano College, Lethbridge College, Portage College and Medicine Hat College.

In my personal option, if you have the high school grades I would go to Medicine Hat College as you get your EMP-P Paramedic (Advanced Care Paramedic) in one shot. It increases the job prospects and salary right off the bat.
