Durham College Pre-Service Program

Postby Mikestoker » Mon Mar 18, 2019 10:10 pm

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience from attending the Durham College Pre-Service Firefighter Program? Would you recommend?
I've heard only a few things so far, some of it not good....

My buddy went to the pre service at durham, and loved it. They give you (this was a few years ago, could have changed) your own set of gear with your name on it, and flashy uniforms etc. He said for the most part the instructors were decent. If you're absolutely set on it, its decent. Have you considered others?

Got hired right out of durham before i could even finish the program off.

I know its gone through LOTS of changes, but do your homework. Go set up an appointment to visit the school while its operating. Ask questions ..

The reviews from students now in the program are extremely bad. Many negative changes. Most shockingly the worst comments are from part-time faculty and DC Management from other programs.
The same 3 names keep coming up.

If I were to have heard that, I would stay away. There are plenty of other schools with good programs. Seneca and Centennial come to mind. I've also heard humber has a good program.
