Also depending on which service you work for steel toed vs non steel toed may be an issue correct?

Yes. British Columbia and Parks Canada are the only agencies to my knowledge that let all positions run non-safety toed (thank the Lord). Most others require either the sawyer to have them or all crew members.

To my knowledge, at least. If you're applying somewhere, best bet is to get in touch with a base and talk to them about advice on gear, applications and advice.
