Rec'd an offer with Peace River crew
Wondering if anyone can recommend a credible site to obtain the Defensive Driving and WHMIS Certificates
Also wondered if we are required to obtain just the basic Driver's Abstract

I was just going to ask post something on boots. I read a couple threads on here and did a little bit of research on wildfire boots and man do they cost both arms and a leg. I mean it probably will definitely be worth it in the long run since we're moving a ton. What do you guys think?

They do recommend the viking bushwacker chainsaw ones but that's about it. I went to marks and they said don't buy boots here because they won't hold up more than 6 months in our kind of conditions. So I contacted a friend of mine who's done a few seasons with alberta and he strongly recommended red wing boots. That's what I went with and yeah the price was ridiculous.

Save your receipt man. I believe you get reimbursed $150! I read Red Wings were the way to go too if you weren't gonna order online. Which ones did you grab?

They are calling in the military to help out battle wildfires.

I'm pretty baffled as this summer was predicted to be one of the hottest, and I know a good couple of fellas that were cut from the BC and Alberta wildland recruitments(s).
You'd figure that they would open another posting/recruitment to get more crews going.
I'm sure the ministry are kicking themselves in the arse right about now.

What can you do eh?!

They even called in FF's from Australia.

How does that work? Do they post positions (paid, volunteer?), or is it all internal using existing connections?
