Transport / Delivery

Postby fire16 » Mon Dec 31, 2007 8:37 pm

Call came in as cord only showing, 17 yr old. ( 2nd preg) 3 EMR's and 3 First Responders attended. No cord presenting, but soon verified as breech . Roads bad, so ambulance arrival later than normal. All else good.
1 EMR and 1 FR attended with amb. on 40 min drive to hospital. A "bouncing baby girl" was delivered enroute, about 10 minutes from the hospital. Things went good this time. Fire Dept does not transport, but does go along with Amb service at their request. Know this is a FIRST for our two members, and possibly for the AMB attendants, being breech and all.
Just a good positive day for the dept guys and gals.

Reminds me of a girl I went to school with, She had gotten pregnant at 13 years old.... had her baby a year later at 14!

Can you beleive that people like that are capable of decisions to such a grand scale as that?

Second pregnancy at 17? Wow, people need to get educated, and slow down. Glad things went well for personnel involved.

Well done to all involved..

Dealt with a 15 year old girl who was pregnant. Transported her to the maternity hospital. She was in incredible pain, but the thing she was most frightened of was her parents being contacted. We tried our best to calm her down..

Unfortunately, she slipped out of the hospital about an hour after we left and didn't represent.
