Drayton Valley, Ambulance service set for boost

Postby five_alarm » Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:27 am

DRAYTON VALLEY, AB - Ambulance service in the area is about to get a boost if a proposed fee increase from the Pembina Valley Ambulance Authority gets the green light.

The ambulance authority is seeking an increase in the per capita funding it receives in order to radically improve service. The increase, from the current rate of $19.25 to a new rate of $32.50 per capita would allow the authority to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) service in all of its units. Currently only one unit in the area is ALS, with the remainder providing Basic Life Support (BLS).

The move is dependent on the ambulance authority receiving approval from a majority of the six municipalities it serves. Last week the increase was approved by Drayton Valley town council.
